IgniteAg is an AgCall initiative to bolster the pool of interested and qualified candidates to meet the increasing human resources needs of the agricultural industry.

• AgCall will use bold and unconventional peer influence strategies and tactics to drive awareness of the career opportunities in, and the benefits of working within, the agriculture industry.
• AgCall will become a “Clearing House” for agriculture jobs (both summer and first full-time employment) by working with Industry to identify needs and soliciting/collecting resumes from interested individuals to meet these needs.

The IgniteAg initiative will increase the talent pool of potential candidates by:

• Encouraging more students in agriculture programs to look for employment within the industry and not migrate to other industries (i.e. the energy sector).
Contact Lance Johnson, Executive Director to discuss how your company can become involved and benefit from IgniteAg.
• Encourage students with rural backgrounds to look towards education and careers within agriculture.
• Encourage students with rural backgrounds who are enrolled in non-traditional agriculture programs (i.e. business, finance, general sciences, engineering, etc.) to apply for agriculture related jobs.
• Encourage students who do not have a rural background to consider applying their education and skills in the agriculture industry.
• Encourage foreign candidates to pursue agricultural jobs in Canada and facilitate their entrance into the country and their placement with potential employers.

Funding

The IgniteAg initiative will be funded through sponsorship (cash and services/products in kind) from agriculture industry partners. These funds will be used to leverage matching grants and funding from government and government agencies.
